The theme of this year’s stewardship campaign is “Write The Vision”. A simple three word statement with far reaching implications. Whether it is to write our individual vision with regard to our relationship to God or to write the vision for our community of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church as we transition to a new minister. In many cases, our personal vision and the vision we have for our church family will complement each other and cause the vision to become even greater. As we pray together, gather for fellowship and connection, and complete surveys, we will focus our vision of the future, both near and far.
An important part of the community vision is ensuring sufficient resources are available to execute that vision. Whether it is your time or talent or monetary resources, our vision for our church family will not be successful without all of our commitments to this vision.
Toward that end, the Stewardship committee invites you to carefully consider your pledge for the 2020 budget year to ensure continued success for our church community. A modest increase could help ensure our church workers are fairly paid for the support they give the church and its members. A modest increase in your pledge would also enable our support of community missions to continue, whether it is UKIRK, the Y childcare center, our international support of our mission partners in Guatemala, Malawi or other missions.
Many of you may give through the plate collection each Sunday, which helps substantially in meeting the church commitments, but turning this into a pledge would help with planning our church vision.
As we move into the new year, we encourage you to be in prayer for our church, for our forthcoming minister, for our new vision, and for how you can best support your church family.

Write the Vision Reflection Guide for Stewardship
BPC is an active congregation dedicated to serving each other and our community both near and far. We write our vision by ushering on Sunday mornings, visiting our home centered members, and by connecting to and supporting community projects. Some groups are welcomed into our building regularly like Head Start and the Blacksburg Master Chorale, and others that are working beyond our walls, like Habitat for Humanity and the Church Street project we have been supporting since it began.
People from within our immediate faith community and beyond have written a bit of the vision they see in Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. I invite you to write use this reflection guide to help you discern what it is God is calling you to give to support these ongoing efforts of BPC. You can pick up a copy of the reflection guide in the welcome window in the gathering space or download it here.
As part of Habitat’s reflection, written by Shelley Foriter, Executive Director of NRV Habitat for Humanity, she offers this song written by Bobby Parker that includes images of the work done by our local chapter of Habitat.
