Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock.
(Matthew 7:24-25)

The Building and Grounds Ministry expresses the love of Christ through service to the members of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church and to the many visitors who use the facility and grounds. This ministry is charged with maintaining a safe, functional, and efficient church building from which to serve Christ’s ministry and safe, child- and wildlife-friendly grounds that evoke the peace of Christ.

B&G Committee

Volunteers help to address issues concerning the BPC building and church grounds. Activities include timely response to unplanned maintenance needs, scheduling and oversight of routine services, and long-term facilities planning. Volunteers also oversee lawn care, landscaping, playground and parking lot maintenance, and snow removal. While many activities are contracted to local service providers, there are periodic opportunities to get your hands dirty, work up a sweat, and have some fun with other volunteers.

Opening the Church

The Buildings and Grounds Ministry coordinates volunteers to open the church for Sunday services. Typically, a volunteer will agree to open the church for one month during the calendar year. If you would like to be a part of this ministry use the form below to let us know!

Creation Care

Buildings and Grounds works closely with the Creation Care Team to ensure we are a good steward of the environment and our facilities are managed in a responsible caring manner. You can check out more information about the Creation Care efforts of BPC on the Creation Care page.

Columbarium

The Columbarium of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church provides a special place at the church for the interment of ashes of eligible deceased. The Columbarium also provides a memorial tablet for memorial plaques in memory of those interred elsewhere or whose ashes have been scattered in the Memorial Garden which surrounds the Columbarium.
