William L. Love
Interm Pastor
A native of North Carolina, Bill is the son, brother, cousin, and nephew of ministers. He got his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in English and his M.Div. from Columbia Theological Seminary.
After serving two installed pastorates (one in NC and one in WV) and serving as an interim consultant in his second pastorate, Bill began serving interim pastorates. That was over 24 years ago. Blacksburg Presbyterian Church is his 18th interim pastorate; Virginia is the 17th state he has lived in, living from the Great Lakes to the Gulf and from coast to coast. His sense of call to this ministry has grown stronger over the years.
He has additional training as a Bridgebuilder consultant, a Healthy Congregations facilitator, and a trainer of Healthy Congregations facilitators, having done extensive work in Bowen Family Systems Theory with Peter Steinke. Additionally, he is trained as a mediator in both family mediation and church mediation. He is also trained to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
His family includes Joann, who served with the Mennonite Central Committee in Vietnam for five years and an additional three years teaching art in Saigon South International School, and Murray, his faithful chocolate lab mix, who goes to church with him during the week and greets everyone who comes in. His hobbies include golf (he entered the USGA Senior Amateur in 2007 and 2008) and songwriting.
