Who We Are

For over 175 years, Blacksburg Presbyterian Church has sought to be a place of worship, welcome, and witness. From those who are seeking to those who have been believers for a long time, we travel together on our faith journeys, seeking to love and serve God together.

  • Blacksburg Presbyterian Church is a member congregation of The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the largest Presbyterian denomination with more than 2 million members nationwide.
  • Our congregation seeks to extend warmth, care, and support to all members, friends, and visitors.
  • Our congregation is well represented by all generations–from children to college students to adults of all ages.
  • We are sponsors of the Cooper House Presbyterian Campus Ministry at Virginia Tech.
  • Because we love God, we provide ministries and service opportunities for people of all ages and interests.
What We Believe

The words of a A Brief Statement of Faith affirm the following:

  • In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one Triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

We at BPC seek to live out these words with our worship, our care and nurture of one another, our ongoing educational efforts for all ages, and our outreach and service in the world.

About the Presbyterian ChurchGod comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.

Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.
